THE CHALLENGE: A DESIGN-BUILD ENDEAVOR

At Martin Concrete, we push the boundaries of what’s possible in the construction industry. Our team’s unwavering commitment to innovation, quality, and client satisfaction shone brightly during the ambitious Dixie Jackson project. This $425 million manufacturing facility, Georgia-Pacific’s single most significant investment in the state since 1991, presented a unique set of challenges that we embraced head-on, ultimately delivering a landmark project that has reshaped the construction landscape in the area.

WEATHERING THE STORM, MAINTAINING SCHEDULE

From the outset, the design-build nature of the project required our team to demonstrate unparalleled adaptability. As the plans evolved, we seamlessly pivoted our strategies, ensuring every revision was meticulously communicated to our field crews. Our project manager, Burke Martin, and superintendent, Jose Nieto, led this collaborative effort, empowering our teams to respond swiftly and accurately to the ever-changing project demands. Mother Nature threw us a curveball early on, with rain and cold weather hampering site work and foundation pouring. Our subsidiary, Full Tilt Crane Services, also introduced the first 440-ton Liebherr crane in the United States, enabling the efficient erection of all tilt-wall panels for the project. This state-of-the-art equipment and our team’s expertise ensured a seamless and efficient

EXCELLENCE IN SERVICE AND STEWARDSHIP

Throughout the project, we remained steadfast in our commitment to client satisfaction and environmental stewardship. Our open communication channels with JE Dunn Construction ensured that all stakeholders remained informed and aligned despite complex challenges. Moreover, our decision to incorporate steel fibers into the concrete mix design yielded significant environmental benefits, reducing carbon emissions by 12% and reducing the overall consumption of concrete, steel, and water.
